Harder, Sharper  rails increase Performance, allowing you to dig deeper in hard turns and really slice into the face of the wave for good hold.

When waves get big, their faces become steep and powerful. The sharper rails of the "Ghost" Carbon Fiber-Surf-Sup allow the edges to cut a little deeper into the face of the wave keeping it stable in aggressive conditions. Steep faces mean that part of the board may be out of the  water as you ride. So, it is important that the rail remains sharply locked into the face of the wave.
